Find out more about Castro A Cidá de Borneiro

One of the oldest in Galicia and the only excavated fort in A Costa da Morte. It was inhabited between the sixth century B.C. and the first century A.D.

It has 43 buildings, circular and oval in shape, and a wall for its protection. There is a neighborhood outside the walls, probably with an industrial purpose for metal smelting. The mountain that adjoins the eastern slope of the fort is classified as an iron mine. In addition to metallurgy, they lived from agriculture and livestock.

Materials found: iron (knives, daggers, sickles), bronze (fibulae, needles, rings, necklace beads, fragments of situlas), stone (fusaiolas, hand mills), glass (necklace beads), pottery (a large amount of it decorated). Currently in the Archaeological Museum of A Coruña.
