The 2026 Solar Eclipse Event in Dumbría will take place on Thursday, 11 June at 19:30 in the Bitácora Building, in O Ézaro. The Concello de Dumbría will begin the countdown to the solar eclipse in August with an informative session aimed at residents, visitors and anyone interested in astronomy and astrotourism.
The talk, entitled “Solar Eclipse. A Unique Opportunity?”, will be led by Óscar Blanco Varela, a science communicator known in the astrotourism field as an “eclipse chaser”, having experienced nine total eclipses. Director of the Trevinca Astronomical Centre, president of the IO Astronomical Association of A Coruña, astrophotographer, Starlight monitor and regular media contributor, he will offer a clear and engaging introduction to this exceptional astronomical event.
The session will explain the difference between total and partial eclipses, why the August solar eclipse is so special and how to enjoy it safely. Admission will be free and open until full capacity is reached. The event is organised by the Concello de Dumbría with the collaboration of the Costa da Morte Astrotourism Association.
